Abstract

This paper aims to highlight the relevance of the book El delito del contrabando en la frontera norte de México, coordinated by Octavio Herrera Pérez, for the study of this type of illegal trade as a socio-cultural practice from the end of the viceroyalty until well into the twentieth century. Through the chapters that compose it, the work analyzes the causes that led to smuggling in different geographical contexts and historical moments, as well as its impact and consequences for the economy and society of border localities.
